The Christ Clinic at Impact Houston
The Christ Clinic officially opened in April 2024, but God was clearly at work long before that. Through prayer and shared vision, Shana Merrick, a registered nurse, and Daniel Ayoung, a retired engineer and part-time minister at Impact, stepped into this work together. After learning from other clinics and laying the groundwork, the clinic has quickly grown into a vital ministry.
Today, the clinic is incredibly active—serving more patients each week than many similar clinics do in a month. Each Sunday, it functions as a community health hub, offering blood pressure checks, glucose testing, medications (including insulin), lab work, and both in-person and telehealth visits. Through partnerships, patients also have access to imaging, specialty care, mammograms, and more. Vision care has also been especially impactful, provided by Dr. Matt Lahmeyer, an Impact member.
Through early detection and timely intervention, the clinic has helped prevent medical emergencies, stabilize patients before EMS arrival, and care for individuals who might otherwise go without treatment. One of the biggest developments this year is that the clinic has been awarded a mobile medical clinic from Texas A&M! This came in the form of a full-size and fully equipped container located on Impact’s campus and is a huge step forward, allowing the ministry to expand beyond our campus and reach even more people in need throughout our community.
Just as importantly, the clinic continues to serve as a bridge into the church. Many individuals and families are coming to Impact for the first time through this ministry.
None of this would be possible without the many volunteers, leaders, and medical professionals who serve so faithfully. We are especially grateful for the leadership of Dr. Larry Wells of the Huntsville Church of Christ, Shana Merrick the Clinic Director, and Daniel Ayoung the Clinic Administrator, along with Tim Sells, Ola Abedayo, and the many others who give their time and care each week.
What started small is clearly growing into something much bigger—and we’re excited to see how God continues to use this clinic to serve and reach our community. More information to come!
