Impact Middle School Summer of Growth

by Geremy Varner

What an incredible summer it has been so far! We’re only four weeks in, and already God has been doing amazing things through our students and leaders. This summer’s theme, “Fruits of the Spirit” (Galatians 5:22–23), has shaped everything we’ve done—from Bible studies to service projects, field trips to creative learning experiences. Together, we’ve explored how to grow and reflect love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in our everyday lives.

We believe that because God has blessed us so abundantly, it’s important to find ways to pour those blessings back into our community. And wow — our students have shown up in powerful ways! So far, we’ve had the opportunity to partner with Bread of Life, where our youth assembled and distributed over 300 produce and hygiene bags to families in need. Create snack bags and encouraging cards for the residents of Independence Hall — and even pray with them and share God’s love face-to-face. And help prepare food bags at our very own resource center, supporting families right here at home. We’re so proud of the way our students are being the hands and feet of Jesus in our city. This is what love in action looks like.

Our summer has also included some fun and faith-filled learning activities! During the $5 Challenge, each small group was given five dollars and tasked with blessing as many people as possible across Houston. The creativity and generosity of our kids was so inspiring—many even asked if they could contribute their own money to help more people!

Another highlight was Joyful Rotations, a hands-on experience where students moved through stations designed to help them understand and practice the fruit of joy. A huge thank you to Dacia and Hannah for leading those stations and bringing so much energy and love!

And of course, what’s summer without a little fun? We’ve enjoyed awesome field trips to the bowling alley, Jump World, swimming, and even the beach! These experiences have helped build friendships and lasting memories in a Christ-centered environment.

We’re only halfway through, and we’re already blown away by what God has done. We can’t wait to see how He continues to move in the hearts of our students over the next four weeks. God has blessed us with some amazing interns who love God and people!

Thank you for your continued love, prayers, and support. You’re making an eternal difference in the lives of these young people!
