God’s Work at Clemente Martinez Elementary
by Raemi Goen
Over the past four years, our church has had the privilege of building a strong relationship with Clemente Martinez Elementary School. This connection has allowed us to witness God’s hand at work in the lives of the students and staff at Clemente and has made it evident that He has big plans.
This March, we welcomed several spring break mission groups who invested their time and energy into serving at Clemente Martinez. They played with the students at recess, shared meals with them, assisted in music and dance classes, and even helped clean and reorganize the science lab. These simple acts of service have strengthened the bonds between our church and the school, reminding us how small moments of kindness can make a big impact.
Beyond these recent efforts, our church remains consistently involved in the school throughout the year. Every Thursday, our dedicated volunteers participate in the Lunch Buddies program with the 5th-grade class, building relationships over shared meals. We also help facilitate a reading tutoring program in the library, providing students with the extra support they need to grow academically and personally.
One of the most inspiring aspects of this partnership is seeing our very own Hannah McCurtain, a member at Impact, serving as a teacher at Clemente Martinez. Through her role, she has been a shining example of Christ’s love, helping bridge the gap between the school and our church community.
It is a blessing to reflect on how God has woven this connection between our church and Clemente Martinez Elementary. We are grateful for the opportunities He continues to provide and excited to see how He will further use this partnership for His glory. One of the fruits that has already come of this relationship with the school is the many students we now have involved in our weekly Bible studies here at Impact. From our first year partnering with this school, we have several students who started in 5th grade and will be a part of our high school youth group this coming summer! This summer we will officially have students from this school involved in the VBS, middle school, and high school programs!
Let’s continue to pray for the students, teachers, and staff at Clemente Martinez—that they may experience the love of Christ through the relationships being built and the service being given.
