Adventures with God
by Geremy Varner
This past weekend, I had the incredible blessing of taking 15 middle school boys camping. It was such a gift to step away from the busyness of everyday life in Houston and spend time together in God’s beautiful creation at Huntsville State Park. What an adventure it was!
We packed the weekend with meaningful activities—Bible study, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and even an epic game of hide-and-seek in the woods. Our theme for the weekend was “Adventure with God.” Just like a great camping trip, faith is a journey with God—one step at a time. It begins by answering His call, continues as we trust Him through the tough trails, grows as we find strength in His presence, and finishes strong as we reach the summit He’s prepared for us.
For several of the boys, this was their first time camping or fishing, and it was such a joy to share that experience with them. Watching their faces light up as they reeled in even the tiniest fish was priceless. We wrapped up the day around the campfire, making s’mores and memories that will last a long time.
A huge thank-you to Paul Bailey, who brought five high school boys to help set up tents and prepare meals—they were an incredible help. And none of this would’ve been possible without the support of Gerald, Darian, Matt, Ryan, Eric, and Alexis. I’m so grateful these boys have such amazing men to look up to.
