Outdoorsmen Block Party
By Tim Sells
As the sun set on a beautiful late spring evening, two men slumped back into the seats of their respective vehicles, exhausted but satisfied with the day’s event. This is the fourth spring since the advent of COVID-19, and it was because of COVID-19 that Impact began to host outdoor homeless events in the late summer of 2021. This latest event was among the best of the ten+ we’ve hosted in the last four years.

On Saturday, June 10, we hosted 250 or more Outdoorsman, 50 or more volunteers, and 4 different organizations. There was food for the body and soul, we raffled off 30 tents and 30 sleeping bags, goodie bags of produce were given to everyone, and shoes and clothing were distributed. Every Outdoorsman left the event with a full stomach, a word from God, shoes, clothes, and many received a sleeping bag or a tent.
The day began at 8 AM with set up and ended at 5:30 PM with tear down and clean up. We are thankful to the many volunteers and Co-sponsors for this amazing day. We are also very excited and thankful for our sponsoring and partnering churches, without whom we would not be able to do all that we do. Finally, we praise God through whom all blessings flow for his abundant love and provision.
God bless you all!
