Servant Hearts

by Devin Dixon

When I came to Impact in the Fall it seemed difficult to find ways to get high schoolers involved in serving the church and community due to Covid-19. One way I found to do this was through the awesome work going on at the resource center. I started picking up a few of them on Wednesday nights to help out and it was amazing to see how eager they were to serve. It was such a blessing serving with them and watching them serve and bless others.

A little while after we started doing this I had the opportunity to take some classes through the South Houston Bible Institute, but they happened to be at the same time the resource center activities were going on. I was not sure how this was going to work out, but the kids I was picking up were still asking to come help at the resource center. It has been such a privilege to see how God is working in their lives and not only their willingness, but their desire to serve others. They have truly been a reminder to me of 1 Timothy 4:12.

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”

Let us all have the servant hearts of Jesus and these young people as we go out into the world this week!
