Ready for the Next Step

By Paul Bailey

As a child I grew up at Impact and every summer I attended VBS. Attending VBS changed my life. I met people who loved God just as much as I did…

My big buddies taught me about Jesus in a fun way. I thought they were cool, so I always wanted to be one. I had that opportunity my sophomore year in high school when I interned at Impact. I figured it was only a summer thing; I didn’t have to do this year round. God had different plans. He sent me on a mission trip to Tulsa, OK with the Impact youth group. I knew then that God wanted me there in Tulsa, so when I got back from Tulsa, I continued to help with the children at Impact on Thursday nights. After a few summers passed, God said that I was ready for the next step. Instead of spending my summer interning at Impact, I went to Tulsa to work with the children there. Being there has changed my life tremendously. I was able to work with a great group of people. One of them came to Impact on a mission trip when he was in high school, and he was my brother Se’Darious’ big buddy when he came – how cool is that!? One of the cool things I was able to do was lead a weekly Bible study with some of the kids I was working with throughout the summer. I got the news after the summer that 3 out of the 5 boys have been baptized! Since I’ve been back from Tulsa, I’m already planning for next summer! Who knows what else God has planned for me? Whatever it is, I’m all ears.  Philippians 4:8
